The Great Dimming!
In November of last year, I wrote an article on the reports of the so-called ‘Great Dimming’. Dubious papers and hot-topic gossip columns alike began to call out yet another supposed end-of-the-world-as-we-knew-it. Religious fanatics declared judgment had come, and political groups demanded funds for ‘research’ and ‘preparation’. In my article, I called out these reports as hogwash, called certain political and religious groups predatory and greedy, and even alienated some of my own loyal readers by calling them gullible and naive.
Today, three months and five days later, I must, with a heavy heart and hand, print a retraction of that article. Any of my long-following audience will know that I do not print retractions easily, and I do not apologize for my opinions ever. But, in the face of insurmountable evidence, I must stick to the facts, and the facts are that I was wrong. Now, allow me to be clear. Many of the articles that I called out were still guilty of exaggeration and fear-mongering. Political groups like Lee Garrison’s rabid following are still to this day profiting off the fear of the people. And I will not apologize for calling the Pontificate what it is: A no-good, scum-stain waste of the limited space left in the solar system.
Nevertheless, a new report written by one Caleb Nixale at the Cornelius Bay Saturn Monitoring Station revealed to the solar system that we are indeed in grave danger. The Oort Cloud, a bubble of debris around the Milky Way created by heliosphere winds, is no longer capable of preventing the invading matter from other galaxies from flying through space and destroying our stars, planets, moons, asteroids, and eventually—our lives. This end has already begun with more than seventy stars unaccounted for. Some sources say humanity has two hundred years or less left to live in our galaxy.
In light of this inevitability, I call all my readers to action. With so little time left, it is now more important than ever that we stand up for what truly matters! Fight for your causes with strength and impunity, because today may be all we have. We will not allow the unwieldy hand of our oppressive governing forces to silence us amidst the dark days ahead! We will not sit down and mourn, there are yet battles to be won, there are still lives to be improved in the here and now. We can still see great yield if we do not allow ourselves to be tricked into complacency. Do we want humanity to go out as a failed experiment, whimpering as we strangle ourselves before the unfeeling universe can even land the killing blow? Or do we want to go out with our heads held high, declaring before all else that may still be out there in another galaxy, We are Humans and We are Proud!
I urge you all, do not give up. Do not give in. Fight every day to make tomorrow a better place for yourselves, for your families, and for your friends, even if tomorrow should be all we have, at least it will be a day to celebrate!
